Lisbon - City centre Lisbon tram

> LISBON

Divided over seven hills, you’ll find the characteristic city fo Lisbon. Once forgotten on the ‘hip’ atlas, now back on the map; beautiful, clean, pleasant with everywhere that glimp of nostalgia. This is unmistakable the city of the Fado.

Get lost in Lisbon
Small and narrow streets, which seem to curve from one Lisbon to another Lisbon.. In short it is great to get lost here in this port city. To begin 'below' in Baixa. This is the center of the city with the large Praça do Comércio. You can move up to the thirty meters higher situated Bairro Alto with the elevator which was created in the year 1900. 'Above', in the evenings you can enjoy the many bars, restaurants and fado-cafes.

Tram 28
Having fun getting lost in Lisbon? Just doing it by foot, that’s just too much. If you really would like to see a lot of the city, then take the tram. Line 28 is one you want to be on. This is the famous old fashion wooden tram which dingles like 100 years ago. For just a couple of euros you’ll see all districts of Lisbon. Except of the old-fashioned trams, Lisbon has also buses, cable trams, a subway and ferries that can take you to the other side of the Taag.

Fado
Yeah.. You really shouldn’t miss this; the famous Portuguese life-song takes such an important place in in the heart of each inhabitant of Lisbon. In the old days the Fado was song especially in poor brothels and bars, but these days, the sand is wiped away from the wooden floors and you can hear the Fado live in restaurants and bars. Even if you’re not into music, and you don’t speak portuguese, for sure you will one moment that you are staring into your glass of port....

Oasis in Lisbon
If you want to escape from the Lisbon bustle, go for park Jardim de Estrela. An oasis in the middle of Lisbon with beautifull exotic gardens. Or to Parque Eduardo VII with the Estufas. This complex consists of two hothouses of glass. In the Estufa Fria (the cold house) -between the winterflowers and ferns- you will find fountains, streams and ponds. In the humid shelter of the Estufa Quente (the hothouse) you’ll find cactuses, water lilies and flamingos. In the hothouse also fly small parrots and a peacock. In the park Campo Grande, you can rent a small rowboat for some hours.
